Carolyn Young

About the Artist

Carolyn Young  (born 1932) lives and works in Corpus Christi, Texas. She received her B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and M.F.A. from Texas A & M University Corpus Christi.  In her work she continues to revisit her many years of sunning, camping, and living on the beaches of South Texas and the wonderful expanse of the Gulf of Mexico with its ever changing color, light and attitude. Her family and psyche are entwined with the beautiful waters of the Corpus Christi Bay and the Gulf Coast and each have emerged as a romantic and meditative part of her creative process. These two powerful forces- nature and human life are recurring in her work and seek to communicate our emotional involvement with both.
