About the Artist

Carla Hughes, a native Texan from Harlingen, received a B.F.A. from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, concentrating in ceramics and sculpture. After graduation she received a scholarship to attend Penland School of Craft in North Carolina and completed the residency program at the Chautauqua Institution in southwestern New York State.
