Artist Statement:

My artistic journey has been involved for some time with the human figure. Recently I have begun to develop field paintings with abstract overtones in which the figure (or figures), if included, is simply part of the whole. My past has crept into these paintings as I have revisited my many years of sunning, camping, and living on the beaches of South Texas and the wonderful expanse of the Gulf of Mexico with its ever changing color, light and attitude. That environment continues to be a mesmerizing part of God’s creation that never ceases to fascinate me.

My family, my life and my psyche are entwined with the beautiful waters of the Corpus Christi Bay and the Gulf Coast and have emerged as a romantic and meditative part of my compositions. The two powerful forces - nature and human life - are recurring in my work and are my means of communicating my emotional involvement with both.
