Mary Hunter grew up the daughter of a three war veteran army officer. She is widely traveled and familiar with a variety of cultures and customs.

She maintains a studio in Austin, Texas. She is best known for her earthy, textural and symbolic mixed media works, photography and paintings. Her gallery representation is in San Antonio, Houston and Port Aransas, Texas.

Mary Hunter received her degree in Education and Art from Incarnate Word University in San Antonio, Texas and graduate studies in art at Texas A&M of Kingsville and Corpus Christi, Texas. She taught school for 10 years and is an experienced art museum docent.

As a member of the Society of Layerists in Multi Media, she attends worldwide meetings and exhibitions annually. She is also a member of the Women’s Printmakers of Austin.
