"In reality, I see things as they are.
In art, I see things as I’d like them to be,
and enjoy life much more."
Paula Gold grew up on a Texas farm and ranch, both working hard and chasing the wind. The uncomplicated life afforded her with time to appreciate nature, especially the animals and their interactions with each other which she has been sketching and drawing as early as she can remember. However, the small rural community and the schools she attended offered no form of formal art training.
Undaunted, she taught herself to paint after working in the cotton fields all summer to earn enough money to buy her first set of oil paints. Time spent in the engineering field afforded her time to study with a variety of accomplished artists to learn new techniques and broaden her skills.
In 2004, Paula moved forward to devote full time to her true calling – fine art. Always in search of new methods to capture the different memories and the moods they emulate, her style is ever evolving yet uniquely her own.
