Visitors to Port Aransas can now see all those little concrete boats at various locations in town with the name “Fred Farley Boat” written on the side. I don’t remember this place but evidently many people do and it has a special meaning to old timers. From the looks of my reference photo they made some very cool boats. I chose to paint this scene with a very warm palette for a change, and added the Palms for composition sake, which probably didn’t appear until people transplanted them later. I love boat yards and especially those with old cars and wooden boats.
