With a degree in fashion and merchandising Penny Clarke began her design career in the New York fashion industry before moving to Africa. Awed by the beauty and diverse culture of Kenya, she began collecting Antique Trade Beads and creating fascinating jewelry from her finds. After returning to the United States she became the design director for a major New York manufacturer until relocating to San Antonio and then to Rockport in 2004. Penny now focuses her talent on creating fabulous Sterling Silver and Gemstone Jewelry from her large collection. Simplicity of design, proportion and color are essential to her work. Her careful selection and matching of beads and components reflect her years of experience, ultimately turning simple pieces of rock and metal into vibrant works of art that she now shows exclusively at the Felder Gallery.
