Don Bosley remembers that, at about age 6, he was fascinated by drawings that his uncle sketched. That fascination remained and he later competed for free prizes advertised on the backs of comic books offered for drawing the cartoon shown. At age 13 he first tried his hand at painting by using a paint by number set. Then, after running out of numbered pictures, he started drawing and painting on cardboard using the left over paint. He participated in advanced art classes through Junior High and High School and while a senior in college he took a job as a designer for an small outdoor advertising company. After college, art was on the back burner while building a career and raising a family. It was 1999 before he became serious about painting. Since then he has participated with and taken lessons from a number of acclaimed Texas artists . Favorite themes are the sea, boats and birds of the Texas Coast. The peace and tranquility of being on or by the water is so universal that it is natural to try and captivate that same feeling in paintings.
