Brad Abrams, began working in glass immediately after obtaining his degree in Glass and Ceramics from the California College of Arts & Crafts, in Oakland, California. A native of Pennsylvania, Brad has been an artist since childhood and has worked as a full time artist for nearly 20 years. Mr. Abrams established his glass studio in Dallas, Texas in 1990. Though specializing in glass sculpture, he also enjoys incorporating steel, bronze and mixed media into his work. A self-proclaimed “Abstract Experimental Expressionist”, Mr. Abrams is inspired by free thought, his addiction to color, and a love for nature’s many beautiful creations. The work he creates reflects his fun-loving personality and like its creator, commands a presence in a crowd. The immediacy and flow of decision-making necessary to glasswork comes naturally and makes his work exciting. Working spontaneously and intuitively, the irony is in the delicacy of the forms he creates. A departure from the blown work, Mr. Abrams cast glass sculptures are abstract, puzzle-like forms depicting natural and abstract themes. These one-of-kind sculptures are cast in a free-form mold, used only one time, and ladle cast from the furnace. Parts are then assembled into fanciful, playful caricatures of fish, birds, and abstract forms and held in place by custom fitted metal frames. These light-hearted yet solid, colorful sculptures are unique and collectible.
